Devotionals: Encouragement

"I prayed for a miracle - that the nodules would be gone." My heart sank when I read the words in my dear friend's (and future ministry partner's) text message.

The sign read, "God know what you're worried about, and has already taken care of it." My car newaly veered off the side of the road.

Whoosh!! The pickaxe swung through the air as my husband let out a low grunt. Clink!! The blade hit solid rock, once again. Lowering the axe, my exhausted hubby wiped stray droplets of sweat from his brow. “Let’s hope at least some of these bushes live,” he mumbled to himself.

Slipping harnesses over sleepy heads and clipping leashes on, the pups and I stepped outside into a dark world. To complement the darkness, a heavy fog blanketed everything around us.

I stepped into a bathroom stall on the twenty-first floor of a high rise office building. Taking a deep breath, I wiped my clammy palms on my suit pants. In vain. Only a moment later, they were glistening with sweat once again. My heart pounded, and I felt as if an acrobat were doing somersaults in my stomach.

Doing school virtually for over a year now, I’ve come to expect the unexpected… but my daugther’s answer shocked me. “I used it to dry my tears after my teacher didn’t call on me to share my writing with the class.”
