At the height of my career in Corporate America, I felt as dry and empty as a thin, hollow vessel - as if every drop of creativity had been sucked from my soul.

"I prayed for a miracle - that the nodules would be gone." My heart sank when I read the words in my dear friend's (and future ministry partner's) text message.

Whoosh!! The pickaxe swung through the air as my husband let out a low grunt. Clink!! The blade hit solid rock, once again. Lowering the axe, my exhausted hubby wiped stray droplets of sweat from his brow. “Let’s hope at least some of these bushes live,” he mumbled to himself.

Slipping harnesses over sleepy heads and clipping leashes on, the pups and I stepped outside into a dark world. To complement the darkness, a heavy fog blanketed everything around us.

“Nooo!! Don’t eat that!” I yelled frantically to my dog. These words had become quite familiar to my playful, mischievous goldendoodle.

Doing school virtually for over a year now, I’ve come to expect the unexpected… but my daugther’s answer shocked me. “I used it to dry my tears after my teacher didn’t call on me to share my writing with the class.”
